DOD Supra Distortion FX55-B
DOD Supra Distortion FX55-B From soft and warm to mean and gritty, the DOD FX55-B Supra Distortion adds appropriate distortion to any noise setup. Has a 'boost' setting on the Distortion knob to give that extra little umph!

not a great distortion pedal if you want DISTORTION. more a like a para-distortion w/ a clean but noisy sound. okay fuzz. feedback interesting. feedback loop even more interesting. not a pedal to clamor over and spend big bucks on, but certainly has its uses.

supposedly this is on the bottom line of the DOD chain and probably one of the most hated pedals out there. basic DOD set-up and very easy to use.

if you want metal distortion you should avoid this pedal like the plague or you will end up cursing the supra distortion name until the day you die.

good pedal for someone starting out or w/ an open mind.

Good Points: clean noisy sound w/ guitar. clean noisy pedal chain. clean noisy white noise. clean noisy feedback. clean noisy feedback loop. clean noisy fuzz. clean noisy cheapness.

Bad Points: almost everyone & their momma hates this pedal. good luck finding one w/ a battery closure. probably only accepts mono cables. which sucks.

I got this as part of a lot, so I'm not very disappointed, but there's not a lot to get excited about here. I will say that I like it more than the Boss DS1, but that ain't saying much. It's not a bad distortion exactly, it's just kinda bland, there's not much gain (even with the boost), it's one of those things that doesn't really make enough of a difference to bother with. It's actually more of a fuzz than a straight distortion, which is kinda cool, but it never gets loud enough to make the kinda fuzz that I like -- I bet if you switched the diodes for matched germaniums you'd be closer, but at that point, like Grizzlor said, you might just as well get a beter pedal. Anybody compare this directly to the fx55c? If the reviews are anything to go by, they *have* to be different pedals...

Good Points: Crazy cheap
Well built

Bad Points: Not much gain
Ho-hum fuzz/distortion
Doesn't bring anything new to the chain

definately the bottom line of dod distortions, you can get these and the c's cheap, but you can also get the metal pedals cheap too! do yourself a favor and get the american metal, super a.m., metal maniac, thrashmaster, or the death metal

Good Points: cheap

Bad Points: very bland distortion,
usual dod problems...
