DOD Stereo Phaser FX20-B
DOD Stereo Phaser FX20-B The FX20B Stereo Phaser gives upto 1080 degrees of phase shift from a six stage regeneration phase circuit. The FX20B offers that unique sweeping and tremolo only a phaser can give.

Out of the phasers i own, this one is the worst sounding. that being said it also happens to be the most useful. Stereo Outs are always a good time! If you read these reviews you know you can make a feedback loop with stereo outs really easily, yeah there are plenty of loop boxes you can buy nowadays, but not anywhere near as cheap as you can get this pedal used on ebay! I got mine for after shipping and for that price if this one were to break i'd certainly replace it! Phasers aren't necessarily that important for the harsh noise, but i keep my speed and regen on 1 and put the depth between 6 and 7 follow it with a cheap non-distinct distortion or two, maybe an eq, then either a delay or chorus before i feed it back into itself. this produces what i call the "angry elephant". tweak the eq sliders and have some fun!

Good Points: stereo outputs, cheap enough yet not plastic...

Bad Points: as mentioned somewhere before...LED doesn't go out anymore, i havent had switch issues yet but dod's are known for it.

Not really usefull when creating harsh noise in my humble opinion. Better when doing ambient stuff when you need some movement in the sound. This is my first phaser so I can`t compare it to anything. Would I get a new FX20B if this broke down? No, because I am into harsh noise and this just drowns in it.

Good Points: Good for ambientesque sounds.

Bad Points: Waiting for it to break down.
Weak in a noisechain.

Recently unloaded my FX20B on e-bay, never really liked the sound and only got limited use out of it (or any other phaser/phasor for that matter, well except for an Arion model I used to own). If you tone down the width and regeneration controls you can then adjust the speed for applying various oscillations to your sound. As stated in the previous review the stereo out is quieter than the main out, so that can be annoying if you want to use it in stereo.

this was one of the first pedals i ever owned/used, and as such it has really shaped the way i think about my sound. i often use this phaser to widen or slowly modulate the sound. works in stereo, so it is a good "splitter" pedal even if i'm not using the effect. the only problem i've noticed with it is that the stereo output is quieter than the main/mono output. this can lead to some time wasted EQing if you're running it though an aux send or trying to use its stereo ability. run it back into itself and then some distortion/delay for that vintage Con-Dom sound.

Good Points: good for adding a little modulation, especially with some delay after it.

Bad Points: stereo output is weaker than main/mono. also, it sounds really lame with regen cranked anywhere past midway. pretty generic phasing.

There are a couple versions of the FX20B, but they only vary cosmetically (and spelling of phaser/phasor). I use this pedal a lot in my chains, but I never use it actively. There's really only one setting I like. I'm not a big fan of phasers for noise. I just use this with the speed all the way up, the regen all the way down, and the depth set so it basically just locks the signal out of phase, with little shifting going on. It helps create some oscillating effects and create subtle changes in the sounds, which works well with delays in the chain. I only like one thing that this pedal does, but I find it essential.

Good Points: see review

Bad Points: This is the only DOD pedal I have (out of several) where I've seen any of the 'typical' problems with DOD reliability: the led light usually is always on, whether or not the pedal is.
