DOD Gate/Loop FX30-B
DOD Gate/Loop FX30-B The versatile FX30-B has many useful applications. It may be used as a simple noise gate, a noise gate with an effects loop, an A/B switch or a keyed gate. The FX30-B uses a standard 9-volt battery or a 9-volt adaptor with a 1/8" male plug like the DOD PS-3 A.C. adaptor.
User Reviews of the DOD Gate/Loop FX30-B:

The gate on this pedal is great... I mainly use it the way the NoiseFX articles suggests for "quick blasts of sound".

The "Sensitivity" knob is a bit peculiar in that it seems to be off when full-left, but the sensitivity is at it's lowest when full-right (meaning it essentially goes in reverse)... I could be wrong about this, though.

It's very useful with a compressor right in front of it (to adjust levels as you need to to depending on the sound source).

You can set the Gate to cut off immediately or to slowly close via the "Release" knob.

Can also be used to help cut his in your chain.

Good Points: The gate is somewhat rudimentary, and therefore not "PERFECT" (this isn't rackmount gear), but it gets the job done, and I am very pleased with it.

I have one of the really early versions (with the DOD logo embossed on the foot pad), and it's still kicking--Works perfectly!

Bad Points: Typical DOD complaints...

The power supply jacks mean spending more money on converters if you use a 1 Spot or Godlyke power-all...

A gate isn't the most useless bit of gear for a
noisician, but this older, cheap DOD gate is pretty
much a waste. Granted I'm not the first owner of my particular FX30B but I get the feeling it never worked
very well. The loop function is a great idea to keep
your signal hot if you use lots of pedals at once. As
others have said ,you can build yourself a loop easily
and with true bypass which no DOD (at least not 80's
models like this one)has.

Good Points: The shades of grey and blue paint.

Bad Points: Most points are bad on this pedal.

pretty useful pedal, another analog editing device good for quick changesin your setup. i use mine as a looper more than an a/b i usually have light spacey sounds running to this so i can add distortion(s)and delays at a moments push!

Good Points: cheap. great dod construction. easy enough to use.

Bad Points: basic dod complaints, switches iffy, battery eater!

I came across this when hunting for a line selector type pedal. This pedal is versitile, it claims to work as an A/B box, noise gate and effects loop on/off switch type thing. Lots of switching applications make this a vesitile noise makers tool to be inserted in effects chains where switching needs to be done. I use this to isolate a tone sucking ring mod. All this said I'm sadly disapointed with it.

Good Points: It does a lot
You can pick them up pretty cheap used nowdays
can always seem to find a place in my chain for this thing, have trouble keeping it out

Bad Points: Sucks tone when bi-passed! but that's not such a big deal when noisemaking eh?
only A/B's incoming singnals, can't switch between amps
doesn't seem to cut off all the signal when used as a looper switch so it kind of defeats the purpose
the noise gate on it is pretty much uncontrolable with the knobs. It never wants to open or close depending on where you set the knobs so not such an awsome noise gate unless you want a complete shutoff between "songs".

a very versatile pedal. can be used either for switching between two chains of effects, or looping more pedals through your already existing chain making some interesting noise come forth...

Good Points: solid dod
versatile

Bad Points: led is sometimes confusing
tends to lose battery door
not made any more

sometimes handy, I mostly use it
to switch a korg x911 in/out of a effects chain since it has no built in bypass.

I haven't found much use for it aside from that. In theory you could use it to gate one source with another, but I've never had much luck getting that to do anything interesting.

The boss ls-2 is similar, and to me at least, the boss seems a lot more useful.

Good Points: cheap, handy for kicking things in/out of a chain

Bad Points: gate function seems very limited, no good way to control amount of signal to/from the loop

Just read the description. There are so many ways to use this pedal. I usually use it to turn on and off chains of effects all at once and to create just the right mix between wet and dry of the same.

Good Points: see review

Bad Points: not the best gate you could find, but at this price, you can't beat it -- plus no other gate will do the other things this does.
