The Danelectro Sitar Swami blends pitch shifting, distortion, flanging, and a delay to make a unique sound that adds
atonal metallic effects to whatever you put into it. One would have to use a lot of imagination to hear a 'sitar' sound from this pedal especially in a noise setting but nonetheless it produces some sonic weirdness.

I love my SS. I use it with my mxr blue box when I'm really looking to make some out there noise. It's got a cool look to it and it's a nice heavy well made pedal. My wife got it for me, and I'm thankful that she did.
Good Points: strange sound, like a metalic harmonizer with a digital flanger on. you can't control the rate of the flange.
Bad Points: Not enough knobs.

Sounds like a continually oscillating phaser/flanger. Like a race car going around a track, it turns your contact mic into a doppler effect of impact sounds, and your feedback loop into a raceway simulator.
Good Points: self-oscillation of odd tonal clinks & clanks makes it so you don't have to do as much to keep your pedal chain sound as if it's having a lot of variation.
Bad Points: the whirring back & forth is too predictable, gives too much of it's own structure to whatever you feed it.

I've heard that this is one of the worst pedals ever made so I just had to give it a try so I borrowed one for a practice. It doesn't sound very sitar-like but then you'd be a fool to expect that it would, if you want a real sitar sound then get a real sitar! It's a SIMULATOR. It adds some very metallic and atonal overtones to your sound, I think it's a mixture of ring modualation and flange with octave up. It can be used to get some interesting and nasty sounds which will suit some noise players to the ground, especially with distortion. It can sound downright HORRIBLE at times! Just don't expect it to sound like a sitar, it's designed to add some eastern overtones and nasty harmonics to a passage.
Good Points: Get some nasty sounds.
Bad Points: Doesn't sound like a sitar at all.
