The Boss Overdrive / Distortion OS-2 is a flexible pedal capable of producing overdrive, distortion, or a combination of both.
Great high gain unit!
normally these seem to go on ebay for about to . it's got really, really great tone. i traded one of my friends my Little Big Muff for his Bass Overdrive ODB-3, and ever since we traded back I've been meaning to get a Bass Overdrive. I just ended up getting this instead because it was so much cheaper and it had a few good reviews here.
it sounds brutal after a hyper fuzz or death metal. i really like the ability to use either overdrive or distortion, or blend the two. it sounded all around better and a lot more "full" than my friend's HM-2 Heavy Metal, and was a great companion to my DOD Death Metal. really great and crisp contact mic action. worth the money for sure. i'm just as happy with this as I was with the bass overdrive.
Good Points: - ability to go between overdrive and distortion is great
- really crisp, full sound, plenty of bass
- not muddy at all
Bad Points: - the overdrive by itself is nothing special, sounds better when mixed with a little distortion mixed in
- i wish it had a little more bite
Good Points: Plays well with others. Seriously, this thing mixes beautifully well with any other effect I can couple it with (even other distortions for extra noise). Also, it's a Boss pedal, so it's got that whole "built like a tank" thing going for it. Like any piece of Boss gear, you could use it to defend yourself in the event of a home invasion.
Bad Points: The only negative thing I can say about this pedal is that there's a real lack of low end to it. It's nothing you can't overcome with some EQing but as soon as you turn it on, the bottom drops out rather noticably.
Good Points: Versatile. Play around for a while and you'll soon find some tones you like, sorry Im talking as a guitarist.
Bad Points: without being really fussy, othing really, does what it says.
