I bought this brilliant guitar pedal a while back. I was lucky to find a brandnew one as it has been discontinued for more than 10 years. (Long live small guitar stores). I have many pedals (Boss, MXR, Fulltone etc.) and this pedal has become an integral part of my pedalboard. I put it after my overdrive en fuzz pedals as brilliantly cleans up the signal; i.e. it makes the overdriven sound much more defined. Similar to a BBE Sonic Maximizer of the Aphex Guitar Xciter, but in a sturdier package.
A sorely overlooked gem; it's a mistery to me as to why these were not succesfull and therefore discontinued.
If you manage to find one, grab it!

Price Paid: US$120
Purchased At: Local guitar store
Good Points: - Super solid construction (it's BOSS)
- additional LED that indicates when the effect kicks in (sens-LED)
- doesn't color your sound
- useful for both rhythm and lead (depending on the settings)
Bad Points : - very hard to find (in a good condition)

I traded a Boss PW-2 Power Driver for one of these awhile back ... and it has become an integral part of my rig.

Good Points: As advertised, can improve the clarity and impact of a signal. Can also be used to add unconventionally "crispy" upper frequencies to a signal or to muddy it a bit if need be.
Bad Points : Boring design motif, especially the color.

It's suppossed to improve the quality of your sound when your using a ton of pedals. I didn't notice much of a difference at all though. Maybe it's cause most of my pedals have a true bypass?

This basically boosts certain frequencies, mainly in the treble/upper mid side of things. You can select the frequency and amount. It was designed for 80's guitarists who had enormous pedalboards and lots of unnecessary gear and had most of their treble sucked away by too many poor bypassing pedals. It doesn't really work as a bass boost and it's pretty subtle, but it can be useful as a mid or treble boost. I've found that you get the harshest scorching noise if you crank all the knobs and put it in the effects loop. Other than that you'd be better off with an EQ pedal.

Good Points: Can be useful as a boost.
Discontinued but still cheap if you find one.
Bad Points : Doesn't do anything an EQ doesn't.
