Boss Auto Wah AW-2
Boss Auto Wah AW-2 The AW-2 delivers a wide variety of wah effects, including a dynamics-sensitive wah that changes with your signal strength and a modulation wah for automatic wah over a cycle of modulation. There's also an extra-powerful wah that combines the two effects. With the MANUAL control, you can set the frequency point of the wah effect to get exactly the sound you want.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price: $149.50

I owned one of these many years ago ... long before I became interested in noise.

Good Points: Quirkier than a real wah pedal. Capable of producing trance like, wah fluctuations and fluttery filter noises at various fixed tempos.

Bad Points: No tap tempo. Much tweaking required before satisfactory results are found.

Nothing like a real wah pedal, this can be useful to add some tones to sounds. It kind of get blurry when pushed to high. The Auto Wah sounds more like an enveloppe filter than anything else. Linking it with other fx such as a delay or flanger can give good results. I ran a limiter and octaver with it and it ended up sounding nice.

Good Points: Depth and Manual Knobs

Bad Points: Too blurry when pushed to the limit

Similar in sound to the DOD Envelope Filter, though it operates in an entirely different manner. The AW-2 can be set to oscillate at various speeds by adjusting the rate control, w/ depth in charge of the oscillation intensity. Best to keep the sensitivity knob at or around minimum w/ these controll settings, sounds great w/ a distortion and pitch shifter in a line loop ("manual" control has no effect if rate, depth or sens. are above 0). You can simulate the DOD pedal by turning the rate, depth, and sens. knobs to zero and rotating the "manual" control to sweep through the frequency range, though unlike the DOD the range is fixed.

Good Points: Rate and depth control of auto-wah oscillation plus manual control of filtering, like having two modes on a single pedal.

Bad Points: If you're unfamiliar w/ the pedal it can be a little confusing at first.
