Just curious to see who comes out the victor... Considering the fact that they are the single most popular figures in Japanoise (Wouldn't say the best, Guilty Connector is earning that title) And when I say Merzbow, I'm not talking about his digital stuff, I'm refering to his Pulse Demon / Tauromachine style stuff...

I voted for Merzbow because he's got a more diverse range of styles he works in and can do more than just freak out. Not to take anythign away from Masonna of course, but Merzbow is more well rounded.

I agree Scott. Definately Merzbow. I hate to say it but generally when you've heard one Masonna album, you've heard the majority of the others.

Guess it depends on the particular set of ears brought to bear. Masonna works better in short spurts, which is clearly how the shit is intended to be ingested. Merzbow might work better over a more extended listening course.

Different ears for different circumstances. Maybe I forgot to set my alarm, I`m in a hurry, brushing my teeth with one hand, frantically masturbating with the other, trying to knot my tie with the third. No way is there enough time to get in anything more than a quick noise blast. Masonna would seem to be ideal. On other occasions, I`m so fucked I can no longer see, think, walk, or hear straight. It is doubtful that "time" would have any meaning under these conditions. Merzbow might be a better bet.

Still, in the grand scheme, I think most would concede, Bananarama has both these suckers beat.

While I think Merzbow is superior to Masonna, I had to vote Masonna because I'm a total Space Machine junky these days.

Merzbow, but I sure would like to erase his last seven years or so. At this point, I'd take Incapacitants over both of them.

Merzbow shows more variety over the long haul, Masonna is the choice for the ADD afflicted.
